On February 12, Needs, a mixtape from Giraffage will be released on Alpha Pup Records. The San Francisco-stationed producer posted “Thinking About You”, which will be included on the mixtape, up on his SoundCloud a few hours ago. It’s safe to say that Giraffage’s sound is interesting, but good to say the least. “Thinking About You”, like other original pieces from Charlie Yin, is highlighted by an unidentifiable (to me) vocal sample, and this time around it’s soulful. It’s introduced at, probably, the normal speed, then switches to a faster tempo, only to be brought back to it’s original speed in the final part of the song. As to keep the sample a priority in the mix, low, dull bass hits remain a good distance under it making the song’s rhythm hard to grasp at first listen.
